Sunday School Update: Guest preacher coming

Dear St. John’s parents,

This week we are back to business as usual, learning about (i) Jesus’ journey into the wilderness in the Godly Play classrooms and (ii) the events of Holy Week in the Upper Elementary classroom.

Our food drive for Lent is wrapping up this week! Please bring an item to contribute to the colorful box downstairs in the Sunday School. Please see here for details.

Faith at Home!

Fr. Ed has put together a small book for the children in our Sunday School and their families, Praying Through Lent, following the Godly Play Faces of Easter series. Please use this resource each week in Lent for scripture readings and prayers. It can be found here.

Guest Preacher Coming for Holy Week

The Rev. Kristina Andréasson.

We are excited to welcome our Guest Preacher next week, the Rev. Kristina Andréasson. Kristina, a friend of Fr. Ed and Devon, is joining us for Holy Week and Easter from St. John’s Wood Parish, London. She will be leading a special class for our Sunday School children on Palm Sunday. She’ll also be preaching on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Easter Eve and assisting on Easter Sunday. Per Fr. Ed, Kristina brings enormous gifts not only in preaching, but, as you will soon experience, in her pastoral sensibility, kindness, energy, and wisdom. It will be a delight to share Holy Week with her, and there will be opportunities for everyone to connect with Kristina when she arrives!

Easter Sunday!

A young child picks up an Easter egg from the grass.

The annual St. John’s Easter Egg Hunt will take place Easter Sunday, Apr. 20, immediately after the 9 a.m. service. We are looking for help in the following ways: (i) Stuff 50 plastic eggs with nut-free candy and deliver them to Alexis’ office during the week of Easter; (ii) Help to hide the eggs the morning of the Egg Hunt. This is a great job for older kids or youth! (iii) Volunteer to supervise each of the Egg Hunt locations (3-6 adults needed). Please let Alexis know if you’re able to help. Thanks so much!

Warm regards,

Alexis
