Alleluia! Christ is risen!
The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!
As we begin this joyful Eastertide, this message comes with every prayer, blessing, and thanksgiving for all of you, and the life we share in this parish. Devon and I (and the cats!) are beyond grateful to share in this wonderful place with all of you, and our first Holy Week and Easter has been a very good one!
In this week’s E-News, I would like to offer two things. First, a note of profound gratitude to all our parish staff, our ushers, our vestry, and especially to Brian, the choir, the choristers, our altar guild and worship and music committees, in making Holy Week and Easter happen! Again, this has been beyond a gift, and I simply could not have done this without you.
Indeed, I want to acknowledge once again our guest preacher, The Rev. Kristina Andréasson, for her inspirational sermons and work with our Sunday School and wider parish during these last two weeks. It is my hope that Kristina will join us again very soon! Above and at right are some images of the beautiful gift that she presented to us during our 11 a.m. Easter Sunday Eucharist and her note of thanks. You can read her reflection on the painting here.
Second, attached is a letter to our parish with some very exciting news about the possibility of a curate for our parish in the nearer future than we originally expected. Please click the link here to learn about this new opportunity, and there will be further updates and opportunities for more information as soon as possible!
In the meantime, thank you to our entire parish for the most wonderous Holy Week and Easter.
With every prayer and blessing for Easter and this exciting new season for St. John the Evangelist in Hingham!
The Rev. Edward Thornley
Rector of The Episcopal Parish of St. John the Evangelist
