Ministries
I am interested in the following opportunities (please check all that apply):
ADULT EDUCATION: With the help of Parish leaders, organize and facilitate events that focus on strengthening spiritual commitment and social relationships within the church community.
ALTAR GUILD: Work singly or in pairs to set the table (altar) for the Eucharist and clean up and put everything away afterward. In addition, one member oversees the care of the fair linens on the altar and another washes and irons the Eucharist linens each week.
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: Help with small projects to maintain and improve our church’s facilities. Serve as project coordinator for larger tasks, participate in semi-annual clean-up days
COFFEE HOUR: Supplement Coffee Hour food. Sign up on our website under the Volunteer Tab.
FLOWER GUILD: Responsible for the flower arrangements on the altar each Sunday.
HELPING HANDS: Assist in supporting parish families who find themselves in need due to illness, emergency or family situations.
HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE: Help in one of many ways to plan and execute the annual Holiday Boutique and Parish Cocktail party in November.
LANDSCAPING GUILD: Plan, plant and maintain all of the flowers, shrubs and other plants in garden areas of the church grounds.
LITURGICAL SERVERS: Serve as a Choir member, Acolyte, Lay Reader or Eucharistic Minister (specify which in the Special Talents and Interests box).
NEEDLEPOINT GUILD: Meet the first Tuesday of every month (excluding summer) to create the kneelers for the church. Beginners welcome!
NEWCOMERS: Host three events each year for newcomers to St. John's.
OFFICE VOLUNTEERS: Assist the office staff with bulletins, mailings, and other special projects as needed.
OUTREACH: Coordinate and promote parish activities that offer care to those in need outside of the St. John's community.
PARISH FELLOWSHIP: Promote fellowship within the church through several events throughout the year.
SHINING LIGHTS: Clean and polish all brass and silver and otherwise care for the altar.
ST. JOHN'S BREAKFASTS: Assist with monthly Saturday morning breakfasts featuring guest speakers.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Teach (or assist) church school children ages pre-K through 5th grade and/or volunteer in the Nursery Room during the 10 a.m. service on Sundays. Assistance with special events--such as Christmas pageants and Easter Egg Hunt--as well as non-teaching needs like managing supplies, snacks or rosters is also very much appreciated.
USHERING: Provide hospitality and assistance to worshipers and assist during the service. We welcome both adult and youth ushers.
WELCOMING: Identify newcomers or visitors to weekly services and answer questions and welcome them to the St. John's community.
YOUTH EDUCATION: Help out during weekly Youth Group meetings and special events and/or otherwise provide assistance as needed.
