Foyer Dinner Groups

“Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread from house to house and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47

At St. John's, we have been fortunate to see our parish grow over the last few years. Foyer Dinner Groups (from the French word "foier" meaning "hearth" or "home") are a way to foster connectivity among parishioners in a smaller setting outside of our larger, parish-wide events.

St. John's Foyer Dinner Groups will be small groups of roughly 8 parishioners who meet throughout the year for simple meals and conversation. There is no formal agenda, nor any assignment; we request only that each group say grace before meals. Groups will be (re)formed each year and are made up of singles, couples, young parishioners, retirees, etc. Newcomers are invited and encouraged to join a group at any time.

Each group will meet roughly 4 times during the year. Meetings typically take place in the home of group members and meals are intended to be simple and shared, including the preparation; the host may provide a main course while members of the group help to round out the meal by bringing side dishes, appetizers or desserts.

Please note there is no need to be concerned that your house is not grand enough to host, nor your culinary skills gourmet enough to share. Our focus is on friendship and fellowship!

While most groups will represent a cross-section of the church, to accommodate families with young children, you may opt to be paired with other young families so that children may be included in the gatherings. Please note during sign-up whether you’d like to be joined with a Family Foyer Group (children included) or an Adult Foyer Group (grown-ups only at gatherings).
